Dear Friends:

Welcome to The Phelps School’s website.  If you are learning about Phelps for the first time, please take your time perusing the site and learn out about the admissions process, view photos, and listen to student and parent testimonials.  After a few short minutes, I believe you will learn quite a bit about our unique program.  Hopefully, you will quickly recognize that The Phelps School, as stated in our mission, emphasizes “dedication to a personalized education for the boy who seeks success academically, personally, and socially.” This philosophy of dedication is accentuated by the disciplined atmosphere, small classes, and daily tutorial support.  There are not many schools that can provide the type of structure necessary to help motivate young men like we do at Phelps.

I believe our greatest strength is in the people who choose to work and live in our school community.  Each faculty member embraces our mission and understands the challenges that come with educating adolescent boys.  Our staff is caring, empathetic, respectful, honest, and tireless.  Many teachers choose to live at Phelps and open their homes and lives to the students, and I applaud their daily efforts.

At Phelps, we embrace diversity.  This past year, we educated over 140 boys from many different countries and socio-economic backgrounds.  In addition to enrolling students from 17 different states, there were nearly 40 international students representing 12 different countries.  Though there is considerable diversity among our students and faculty, we communally celebrate the Affirmations of POWER listed below:

I think….. Positively
I serve….. Others
I seek…… Wisdom
I pursue…Excellence
I live……  Responsibly

In our 64th academic year, we continue to pioneer those educational methods which facilitate growth and success for all of our boys.  As a college preparatory school, we firmly believe that boys will benefit from living away from home; therefore, we aim to teach young men to become more self-reliant and independent.   Thus, you can appreciate how proud I am to inform you that every member of our graduating class of 2009 was accepted to a college or university for next year.

Please contact our Admissions Office to learn more about this rare educational opportunity.  Thank you for visiting our website.

Sincerely,

Michael J. Reardon
