1. Send us a completed
application (with appropriate fee)
2. Request that your current school send us an official transcript
4. Arrange a school visit for your formal interview
Whenever possible, candidates should plan their interview for a time when the school is in session in order to fully experience the community. If you are unable to visit, we may be able to entertain a telephone interview.
Many factors are taken into consideration when making admission decisions. The academic transcript, teacher recommendations, personal interview, and numerous other variables such as maturity and character are brought into play during the admissions process. Grades and test results are generally not used for evaluation of candidates, but rather, they assist the staff in determining the appropriate academic placement level.
The application process should be initiated as soon as possible to ensure openings for the academic year in which the student wishes to enroll. Acceptance decisions are generally made within three weeks of the interview and only after the completed application, transcript and two recommendations have been provided. Following acceptance, a $2,000 deposit, applicable towards tuition, is required within three weeks in order to hold the student's place. The academic year begins in early September, and a waiting list may occur. Late or mid-year admissions are sometimes available, as the Admissions Office operates on a "rolling" basis.
The Phelps School values the diverse nature of its population and accepts students without regard to race, color or national origin.
