Housing

Boys of similar ages and interests are generally housed together, and dormitories are comfortable and relaxed, with senior leadership provided by house parents who also serve on the teaching faculty. The direction and personal attention supplied by teachers during the day is carried over into life in the dorms, and the positive bond that develops between a house parent and a student is a significant factor in each student's experience at The Phelps School.

Every year there are students who have noticeably matured while they have been at Phelps and are considered able to help their peers to do the same. A few of these boys are chosen to serve as student leaders or proctors to assist the house parents in each dormitory.

Residential Support Team

The Residential Support Team (RST) came into effect during the 2010 – 2011 school year.  The RST is coordinated by the Director of Student Services and the Director of Academic Support.  The team is made up of members of the faculty and administration with the goal of providing a supportive atmosphere for our residential students. The team meets with all members of each dormitory, as a group, to discuss the numerous issues that they face in the boarding school environment.  Meetings take place weekly to discuss matters pertinent to community living in our school’s environment. To date, the RST has witnessed small and positive changes in the community living of the dormitories and an overall feeling of success has been achieved!
