North Beattie

To the parents and guardians of North Beattie students:

Our goal is to provide comfort, structure and responsibility for the boys of North Beattie. In congruence with The Phelps School philosophy, we always want to provide a warm, nurturing, family atmosphere for these young men. Some of the dorm events of the first semester are pizza parties, Halloween costume and pumpkin carving events, movie trips, food runs, and dinners out, just to name a few. We are excited about this school year and we want you to know that your son is in good hands at The Phelps School.

The Phelps School Student/Parent Handbook is an essential resource for information on school policies and procedures.  Please take the time to review the handbook, but feel free to contact us with any questions of concerns that remain unanswered or unclear.
The best time to call your son is between 5:15 & 6:15 or 9:00 & 10:00 P.M. on weekdays. The phone will be off the hook during study hall hours and then after lights-out at 10:30 P.M. on weekdays. Please be considerate when trying to contact your son by cell phone, as well, since this convenience can still be abused during quiet times and after lights out. In case of an emergency, please contact the school at (610) 644-1754 and an administrator will be on call.

Next, if you are planning to allow your son permission to leave for the weekend, then please contact the dorm parent no later than the preceding Tuesday evening. I can be reached at school at (215) 499-1027. Please be prepared to let me know when your son will both depart and return (boys are to return no later than 7:15 p.m. on Sunday night), how he will travel, and whether he will be needing additional money from his account in the business office. This information will help us make arrangements to take your son to the train station or airport, if that is the case. In addition, please check the school calendar before making any travel arrangements for your son.

If you are planning a visit, then any Saturday or Sunday between the hours of 12:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. works the best, but again, be sure to notify the office or a dorm parent upon arrival. Contacting your son by mail is also convenient. Mail is distributed to the boys each weekday, but please be specific in addressing letters and packages, for that matter, as such:

Finally, remember that theft can occur anywhere, and even though we are a small community, boys should be responsible with all of their belongings. Each boy must bear the sole responsibility for the safekeeping and care of all personal items kept on campus. Each student is also responsible for damage to his room or other school property. We thank you for your assistance in these matters and for the privilege of working with your son.

Important Phone Numbers:

The phone number for the administration office is (610)644-1754.
The dorm phone number to reach your son is (610) 540-0166.

Thank you,
