Greetings. I hope this information sheet helps you stay in contact with your son as he spends the 2008-2009 school year with us. There are several rules we ask the boys to follow, and a few are also relevant for you to be familiar with in regards to phone calls, weekend policy, mail and other living responsibilities.
The Phelps School Student/Parent Handbook is an essential resource for information on school policies and procedures. Please take the time to review the handbook, but feel free to contact us with any questions of concerns that remain unanswered or unclear.
First, the phone number for the dormitory is (610) 540-0162. The best time to reach your son is between 5:15 – 6:15 p.m. or 9:00 – 10:15 p.m. on weekdays. The phone will be off the hook during study hall hours and then after lights-out at 10:30 p.m. Please be considerate when trying to contact your son by cell phone, as well, since this is more difficult for us to regulate.
Next, if you are planning to allow your son permission to leave for the weekend, then please contact the dorm parent no later than the preceding Tuesday evening. I can be reached at the school number 610/644-1754. Please be prepared to let me know when your son will both depart and return (boys are to return no later than 7:15 p.m. on Sunday night), how he will travel, and whether he will be needing additional money from his account in the business office. This information will help us make arrangements to take your son to the train station or airport, if that is the case. In addition, please check the school calendar before making any travel arrangements for your son.
If you are planning a visit, then any Saturday or Sunday between the hours of 12:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. works the best, but again, be sure to notify the office or a dorm parent upon arrival. Contacting your son by mail is also convenient. Mail is distributed to the boys each weekday, but please be specific in addressing letters and packages, for that matter, as such:

Finally, remember that theft can occur anywhere, and even though we are a small community, boys should be responsible with all of their belongings. Each boy must bear the sole responsibility for the safekeeping and care of all personal items kept on campus. Each student is also responsible for damage to his room or other school property. We thank you for your assistance in these matters and for the privilege of working with your son.
