I took seven boys on my ninth trip to the beach the last weekend in September this year.  The boys had a lot of fun exploring the trails and beaches of Cape Henlopen State Park.  They even got to climb one of the World War II era observation towers!  On Friday we set up camp and then went down to the boardwalk in Rehoboth before returning to camp and enjoying the evening around the fire.

On Saturday it was too windy to head out on the planned charter boat fishing trip, so we improvised.  We found a pier on the Indian River where we were able to catch some Maryland blue crabs.  We took the “keepers” back to the campsite and steamed them.  Some of the boys took a nap while the others learned the art of eating a blue crab.  In the evening we found some excitement at the Boardwalk in Ocean City, Maryland and later returned to Henlopen for some s'mores around the campfire.

On Sunday we had a good breakfast and packed up our camp.  After that, several boys chose to explore the outlet stores, while others chose to wander Rehoboth and the boardwalk one more time.  Overall we had a lot of fun, and I look forward to trip number ten possibly occurring in May of 2008.
