Community Service Day 2008

5/2/08

The Phelps School's Annual Community Service Day went off without a hitch!  The boys worked very hard around the Philadelphia area, and they did a phenomenal job.  On May 2, 2008, 150 staff members and students completed a myriad of volunteer tasks throughout the day.  They cleaned parks and roads.  Sixteen of our boys went to a local school to organize and participate in a field day for over 100 students.  Some of our students worked in a warehouse, and others sorted food at The Philabundance Food Bank.  We planted seeds with the Willistown Police Department to beautify the township building.  The Malvern Police and Fire Departments were grateful to us for washing their police cars, firetrucks, and ambulances. Our campus artists painted beach pails for the children in the Oncology Unit at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP).  Another group made orange ribbons to hand out at the MS Walk, a service event in which we were involved the following Sunday.  A few students helped out on campus fixing up the weight room and the library.  Each and every person who participated made a difference!
