On behalf of The Phelps School's faculty and administration, I am delighted to report that your sons appear to be adjusting quite well to life at Phelps during the relatively short period of time that we have been in session. They are involved in our structured day, not only with their academic work, but also with the student-activity program, athletics, dormitory life, etc. The spirit of the boys is excellent.
I sincerely hope that you will attend our "Parent's Day" on October 16, 2008. Please reference the below schedule for a preview of our program, which will provide you with a firsthand look at what the school day is like for your son. This is also a wonderful time for you to get to know other parents and "compare notes." You might even meet someone who lives close enough to you that you could make arrangements to carpool, etc.
Mr. Phelps is fond of referring to these first six weeks of the school year as "the scrimmage," and Parent's Day officially ends this period of time. So please RSVP to Ida Hockensmith at

9:35 - 9:50 AM - Period 1
10:00 - 10:15 AM - Period 2
10:25 - 10:40 AM - Period 3
10:50 - 11:05 AM - Period 4
11:15 - 11:30 PM - Period 5
11:40 - 11:55 PM - Period 6
12:00 PM - Buffet luncheon for parents in the Student Center
Early weekend departure following lunch (students must sign out). Students must return to campus by 7:30 PM on Monday, October 20th.
