Phelps School (5-0-1) defeated Westmont Christian (6-1) Tuesday in a battle of undefeated Tri-County league teams by a score of 5-2. Junior A.J. Bishop netted three goals while senior co-captains Sam Mamlouk and Fransisco DeLeon each tallied one apiece. Phelps got out to an early lead with a goal in the third minute but watched its lead evaporate when Westmont answered just five minutes later.

The Lions, behind the great passing of sophomore Nick Pember, were able to regain the lead and add a third goal before halftime. The Lions held on to their 3-2 halftime lead going into a 30-minute weather delay at the 63rd minute. Bishop and DeLeon each scored just minutes after the delay was over, adding some insurance to junior goalkeeper Michael Hsieh's lead. He had four saves in the winning effort.

Phelps (4-0) handed Perkiomen its first defeat, 5-2, Thursday. The Lions struck first blood in the 26th minute on a Nick Pember screamer which was nicely set up by co-captain Sam Mamlouk. It did not take the Lions long to tally their second goal; co-captain Fransisco DeLeon connected from 20 yards out in the 29th minute to give Phelps a 2-0 lead going into halftime.

In the second half, Nick Tilley and AJ Bishop each scored for Phelps, along with DeLeon's second goal of the game. KD Adermei, Owen Tianari, and Baltasar Xavier anchored a solid defense in front of junior goal keeper Michael Hsieh, who had four saves.

Yesterday the Varsity Soccer Team beat Barrack 9-4 in their home opener. This was the first time since 2007 the varsity team beat Barrack in TriCounty play. Michael "The Wall" Hsieh earned the win in net and had 3 saves. While Baltasar Xavier and KD Aderemi anchored the defense.
