Corey Crawford was honored as the Student Athlete of the Week on the Andy Reid Coach’s Show broadcast live from Chickie’s and Pete’s, Philadelphia, on Monday, December 6th.  Phelps School classmates and current parents attended the broadcast in support of Corey as the following was read by Merrill Reese on 610 WIP Sportsradio:

 

“Corey Crawford is a 2010 Graduate of Dover High School in Dover, Delaware and is now currently taking advantage of a Post-Graduate year at The Phelps School in Malvern, Pennsylvania. Corey was a 1st Team All- State selection and the 2010 Gatorade Player of the Year in the State of Delaware where he averaged 24 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists per game. He led Dover High to the state finals, where he set the state record for 3 pointers made in the state tournament with 15. He was a 1000 point scorer at Dover High, with 850 of those scored during his final two years.

Corey also volunteers his time with the City of Dover Parks and Rec by helping younger aged students at basketball clinics. He received an award from his church, Calvary Baptist, for being a youth leader and donating his own money to a  needy family at Christmas. He also received an award from the Delaware African American Sports Hall of Fame for his academics, athletics, and community service.

Corey is a member of the National Honor Society and has a 3.9 GPA with 1040 on his SAT’s and is being recruited by Ivy league schools as well as numerous other Division 1 and 2 colleges.

Corey is hoping with a year at Phelps he can pursue his dream of playing Division 1 basketball at a great University.”
