The Board of Trustees is pleased to announce that there will be no increase to our tuition for the 2011-2012 school year, with the exception of a modest increase in our Technology Fee, which will now be $750.00. Tyler Wilkins, Director of Technology, offers insight into this increased fee and our technology program as a whole:
“In ten years there will be a number of new jobs involving technology that do not exist today. Furthermore, the amount of occupations utilizing technology jumped by over 30 percent between 2009 and 2010. It is our belief at The Phelps School that in order to best prepare our students for what many are calling “The Information Age", unique and relevant technology education is paramount. Our technology fee helps us provide the tools and opportunities for our students that are necessary to succeed at Phelps, in college, and beyond. Specifically, the fund pays for each student's laptop (and the software/hardware upkeep thereof), general upkeep and development of the school's network, and provides resources that allow The Phelps School to continue to advance the totality of our curriculum.”
It is with great pleasure that I am able to communicate this good news. We are fully aware of the difficult economic environment that is pervasive to our times; however, in the face of this challenge, the administration remains committed to advancing our academic program. The Phelps School mission remains at the core of all we do, and therefore we will keep taking steps forward to achieve our goals, and offer the best individualized education possible for each student. We are very proud to partner with you again in the coming year.
