| back | | | Thursday, March 17th marked the beginning of a wonderful partnership between The Phelps School and the Chester County Food Bank. On Thursday, Joe Munley and the students of the Gardening Activity worked alongside two employees of the Food Bank to build four raised bed gardens. Each bed measures 3' x 12' x 16" high and will sustain organic agriculture. All supplies were provided by the Food Bank, and now it is our students' responsibility to maintain and harvest the produce. Over 60% of the produce raised in these gardens will be donated to local food cupboards. This is a great project with the goal of providing more fresh food to the hungry in order to improve their health and well being. This project is an opportunity for our school community to give back to Chester County while teaching our students some life long lessons and skills | | back | |
