Academic Support

Academic Support Program at The Phelps School

At The Phelps School, every student benefits from the guidance of a dedicated advisor and a team of supportive teachers. When a course presents challenges, additional assistance is available through our Evening Proctored Study Hall and Tutorial (Office Hours) periods. For students who need more structured support due to learning differences and previous difficulties with traditional classroom instruction, we offer the Academic Support Program (ASP).

Personalized Academic Support

Students enrolled in ASP receive daily guidance from our academic support staff in small groups of two to four students. During that time, they receive both one-on-one and small group support. They receive tailored assistance for their current coursework and engage in supplementary assignments designed to enhance their academic skills and build robust study habits.

Comprehensive Student Learning Snapshot

Upon entering ASP, each student meets with the Director of Academic Support, who collaborates with the family and reviews essential documents such as IEPs, recommendations, report cards, and transcripts. This information is used to create a Student Learning Snapshot, which is then shared with the student's teachers to establish a personalized foundation for growth and development throughout the year.

Integrated Support and Advocacy

ASP integrates tutoring, teaching, and advocacy into a cohesive support system tailored to each student's needs. The program’s intensive, individualized instruction ensures students receive the focused attention they need to thrive academically. Due to the personalized nature and extensive one-to-one support provided, ASP comes with an additional fee. Families interested in this program should contact our Admissions Team at admis@thephelpsschool.org for more information.
