Admissions

The Phelps Student

The Phelps School is an all-boys boarding and day school. We serve Grade 6 through Post Graduate. We understand young men and how they learn best. We provide a traditional college-preparatory curriculum in a uniquely diverse environment.

Our young men come from around the world and across the country. They are scholars who study in more than fifty core classes. They learn to think critically and creatively. They do not hesitate to challenge received wisdom and also to question themselves. They are athletes who participate in one of our eight varsity sports. They establish habits and mindsets for healthy living. They are leaders who serve others as proctors and ambassadors. They stand on firm ethical foundations, collaborate with compassion, and communicate with confidence. They are friends who live and learn alongside one another. They develop self-awareness, social skills, emotional intelligence, and empathy. They are brothers who become better men together at The Phelps School.

Success Stories

“I came to Phelps to get more prepared for college and I feel like I did just that. I study a lot more than I ever did.”
-Tarojae Brake, Parkesburg, PA
“When it comes to this school, the love I have is something special, and that is because of the person I have become during my time here. Before coming here, I was just ONE MORE, you know what I mean; that
person who doesn’t mess up but at the same time never excels. Here I realized that if you work as hard as you can, you can actually be THE ONE.”
-Oriol Tres, Barcelona, Spain

“When I arrived here I saw not a school but a family. Everyone I met treated me with the same level of respect and kindness as they might give a brother or son.”
-Ryan Hanna, West Chester, PA
“I think Phelps was one of the best decisions of my life. I became a diligent student who strives for success. The faculty is amazing, there is a lot of support and it sets you up to be successful. After three years here, I am ready to move on, but Phelps and the faculty will always have a space in my heart.”
-Albert Ciccitto, Lansdale, PA

What Parents Are Saying:

Lynnore Compton
“As parents of two young men, each having their own dreams, strengths and areas of challenge, we looked for high schools that would support their growth into men of character as well as prepare them for a happy, successful life.  After looking at numerous schools, we were happily surprised to find one school that met the needs of both our sons.  We soon realized this was because The Phelps School lives up to their founder’s motto of ‘dedication to the individual boy.”
Roberto Colon
“Phelps has provided the framework for our son to realize his potential and work hard toward his goals.  It has not been easy or quick but little by little, he has turned into a young man. We have really noticed change in his belief that he can do the work and that he is as smart as any other kid.”
Adam Dublin
“The Phelps school has been an incredibly rewarding experience for my son and our family. My son struggled with academics and was lost in a larger school. The attention to the individual and the passion for connecting with the student exhibited by the staff at Phelps has been beyond our expectations. Our son has been transformed from a disenfranchised child, lacking in self esteem to a successful student, engaged in sports and academics, capable of succeeding in an increasingly competitive world.”
Liz Rotan
“Phelps offers academic, social, athletic opportunities that our son otherwise might not have been willing to explore nor received from our local schools. The quality and level of education our son is receiving at Phelps is superior. We feel strongly that without the support and consideration being given to him, our son would otherwise not be the successful student that he has become. Our son receives a kind of personal guidance, support and understanding from faculty members that has given him the tools to manage himself in both social and academic settings."
