Application Process

Similar to our approach to education, we believe the application process should be personal and familiar. If you require assistance with the admissions process, please contact our admissions office.

  • Step 1: Application
  • Step 2: Ancillary Documents
    • In addition to our online application, please submit the student's transcript and any applicable testing. We also require recommendations from a Math and English teacher. All documents can be directly uploaded to the application
  • Step 3: Interview
    • An interview is required at any point during the admissions process from inquiry to a completed submission of an application. These interviews can be conducted in person or via video call.
  • Step 4 : Notification of Decision
    • Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Families will be notified via email when decisions are available. Financial aid awards and admissions decisions will be issued concurrently.

Acceptance Policy

A student’s acceptance for enrollment is based on many factors, including his maturity, character, and desire to join this diverse, close-knit student body. Previous grades and scores are helpful in the academic placement and scheduling process, but they are not the sole basis of enrollment decisions. We strive to ensure that each boy who comes to Phelps will be able to thrive and contribute something meaningful during his time here. We do so by getting to know each applicant personally, as best we can.

Admissions decisions will be sent only when the admissions file is complete. Financial aid offers will be shared along with the acceptance materials so that families are able to make an informed decision about the next steps.

The Phelps School admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the School.  The School does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship programs, and athletic and other school-administered programs.
